Who We Are
Our Mission
We take pride in servicing and repairing European automobiles with attention to detail and care for our customers — your car is our passion.
Our Story
Having lived in this community all his life, Ron Ager started Northwest European because of his passion for European cars and his love to work on them. Many customers who visit Northwest European Autoworks have known Ron for over 50 years and have continually entrusted us to service their vehicles.
His personal and business relationships have been based on honesty and integrity with good communication at the core. This attention to good communication has been one of the hallmarks of what makes NEA a top shop in the region.
One of his main goals was to create an environment in which people enjoy working, visiting, or having their vehicles serviced.
We Are Unique
Our customers come to us because we have a deep blend of racing, Eurocentric vehicle knowledge, and van fabrication skills that put our shop in a unique position. It’s this confluence of specialty and expertise, along with our outstanding customer service that puts Northwest European Autoworks at the top of the list for European car enthusiasts.
The NEA Team
Ron Ager
Owner
I have been infatuated with German cars since I was 17 years old. I’m proud to say I owned one of the first BMW’s in Bellingham when I was 18 as they were just coming on the market - a ‘69 BMW 1602 that promptly went to the track to lap with other BMW’s from the Seattle area. I grew up on a farm maintaining farm equipment and this led me to repairing my own cars. Eventually I was repairing other folks cars to make the money I needed to continue with my lust for BMW’s. I started a small business working on BMW’s only out of my garage on the weekends. This went on for 20 years while I was raising a family and building homes. In 2006, I decided to retire from my construction business and go full time into the European auto repair business, as there seemed to be an enormous need in our community. The buildings that we are in is where the business was started and that we have grown to 4 tech’s and 2 advisors in order to keep up with the demand. My goal has always been to have a team that feels like family where everyone shares the passion that I do for German cars. I still love my job and enjoy all the interaction I have with the guys and the enthusiastic customers. One of my other passions is BMW dual-sport motorcycles which I ride countless miles per year and get to enjoy other state’s many service roads.
Matt Brendemuehl
Service Manager
I have been working in the auto service industry for 30 years. My passion for European cars started with vintage Volkswagen’s then moved on to Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Porsche cars. In recent years, a love for Mercedes Sprinter Vans has allowed me and my family to explore the Pacific NW.
Independent repair shop and dealership experience of all the German auto manufacturers has allowed me to gain extensive knowledge that helps guide NW European Autoworks day to day operations to insure excellent customer service.

My passion for understanding how things work started with computers at a young age. It eventually turned into a passion for cars after getting my first project car at 15. I am currently upgrading/restoring my 1985 Audi Coupe GT. I’ve always has an affinity for European cars which led me to working at Audi of Bellingham for 2 years. Shortly after leaving the dealership, I found myself at NW European doing what I love to do. I’m also currently involved in Rally Cross racing in our Porsche 944. I’m looking forward to all the projects I’ll get to take on and all of the knowledge I’ll gain from it!

Technician
I have been in love with cars ever since I bought my first fixer-upper at age 15. When I was taking that first engine apart, I realized that this was my passion! My dad always told me growing up, “do what you love, and you will never work a day of your life”, so I decided to pursue a career in Automotive Tech. I started by attending BTC for their automotive program then interned here at NW European. I eventually switched from intern to full-time tech as I progressed. Working here at NW European has been nothing but amazing and it compliments my love for meticulous, professional, clean, honest work. I look forward to what these years bring!
